Shea Butter recipes

Posted on: January 28, 2009

I found a few recipes that use Shea butter, I just googled shea butter recipes for hair and searched for the ones I like, they are taken from various users and websites.

Shea butter crème

1. 4 tablespoons shea butter
2. 2 tablespoon cocoa butter
3. 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4. A few drops of your favourite essential oil for fragrance

Melt the shea butter and cocoa butter in a double boiler over a low heat until melted and add the olive oil. Pour the oils into a bowl and at this point, add a few drops of the essential oil for fragrance. Put your bowl over another bowl filled with ice to allow the oils to set faster. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is light and fluffy (you may want to use an electric hand whisk for this. Spoon into a jar and enjoy!

1oz vitamin E
1tbsp EV olive oil
1tbsp organic coconut oil
1tsp soy lecithin
50 drops rosemary
50 drops lavender

Melt the shea butter, coco butter, olive oil, coconut oil, vitamin E together in a glass bowl using a double boiler. DO NOT LET THE MIXTURE BOIL.  add in the lecithin and stirred until disolved.  then added the aloe vera gel and the water and stirred more until it was a consistant mixture.

take it off the fire and using a hand mixer, mix for 5 minute intervals while also placing in the freezer for 10 mins.

This helps to cool the mixture and make it easier to whip. Also during the last phases of the mixing process, add the rosemary and the lavender.
